“Once” and “Newsies” are Hot Tickets on Broadway

Just returned from NYC where I was invited to see the new Broadway musical, “Once“. Great cast, and beautiful haunting Irish songs. Stars Steve Kazee as an Irish street musician and Cristin Milioti as a Czech immigrant. Their complicated budding love relationship is set in the city of Dublin. Its not a traditional Broadway show but is a wonderful love story, with powerful music that captures the heart. “Newsies” just began previews and is destined to be one of the hit Spring shows on Broadway. This Disney musical set in 1899 about a group of newspaper boys that strike against the newspaper barons of the day and features new broadway/movie star Jeremy Jordan. There are lots of dance numbers highlighted by the end of the first act finale, “Seize the Day” that has already been called one of the most rousing dance numbers ever! The other new musical gathering lost of buzz is Ricky Martin starring the revival of “Evita“! Many early performances have sold out at the box office. The early advance is well past 10 million dollars. Next week I’ll be going back up to NYC for the preview performance of “Ghost“. This highly anticipated musical is coming over from London and the word is the production numbers are spectacular in the ‘Spiderman” mode! Will report back in a couple of weeks.
